Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The image has not been previously published and the authors have full rights for it.
  • The text have less than 250 words.
  • The resolution of the image is at least 500x400 px.
  • The maximul number of authors is 3

Article structure:

  1. Title

  1. Title (max. 10 words) 

The title must be concise and informative without any abbreviations. 

  1. The image 

Type of images:

  • Clinical
  • Intraoperative
  • Imagistic
  • Histopathology (macro or microscopic)
  • Illustrations
  • Schemes

 

Type of digital documents

  • .jpeg (maximum quality compression only)
  • .png
  • .tiff

All information that could be used to identify a patient (name, medical-record number, hospital name) must be removed. 

If the photos are modified in any way (except brightness/contrast, color, crop, resize), the authors should inform the journal about the modification and why these have been done.

Technical criteria:

  • Minimum resolution: 500x400px
  • The content must be intelligible at a printed size of A4 
  1. Authors (max. 3) with affiliation

For each article there can be maximum 3 authors.

  1. Keywords (max 5)

Authors must provide a number of minimum 2 and maximum  5 keywords. The keywords should not use plural terms, connection words or abbreviations.  Keywords will be used for indexing so if they are relevant the article will gain more visibility.

  1. Description of the photo (max. 250 words) 

The description of the photo should contain information such as: clinical data, management of the case, the legend of the image, the importance of the issue or any other relevant information. 

  1. References (max. 5)

 

Copyright Notice

The image and the description has not been published before, and it is not under consideration for publication in any other journals. It contains no matter that is scandalous, obscene, or otherwise contrary to law. When the article is accepted for publication, I, as the author, hereby agree to transfer to the Medical Image Database all rights, including those pertaining to electronic forms and transmissions, under existing copyright laws, except for the following, which the author(s) specifically retain(s):

 

  1. The right to make further copies of all or part of the published article for my use in classroom teaching;
  2. The right to reuse all or part of this material in a compilation of my own works or in a textbook of which I am the author;
  3. The right to make copies of the published work for internal distribution within the institution that employs me.

 

I agree that copies made under these circumstances will continue to carry the copyright notice that appeared in the original published work. I certify that I have obtained written permission for the use of text, tables, and/or illustrations from any copyrighted source(s), and I agree to supply such written permission(s) to the Medical Image Database upon request.
